This walking tour takes us into the sestiere (neighborhood) of Cannaregio, one of Venice’s most atmospheric and authentic districts, a place where Venetians still live, work, and enjoy their daily routines. Far from the busiest tourist routes, Cannaregio offers quiet canals, hidden courtyards, elegant churches, and centuries‑old traditions.
The neighborhood is also home to Venice's historic Jewish Ghetto, the oldest in Europe and one of the most meaningful areas of the city. Here, history, culture, and memory intertwine in a setting that remains incredibly evocative. As we continue our walk, we’ll wander through narrow calli (alleys), discover secret gardens tucked behind ancient walls, and admire churches rich in art and stories.
Along the way, I’ll share anecdotes, curiosities, and insights into Venetian life, both past and present. We'll chat about local traditions, historical legends, daily life in today's city, and modern challenges.
I think this tour is perfect for travelers who want to experience Venice beyond the postcard views and connect with the real soul of the city.
