This tour is the perfect way to spend a Saturday morning in Rome! The Galleria Colonna, the Pope's family palace, is only open one day a week (on Saturdays), but it's perfectly preserved and is a magnificent site to visit while in the Eternal City.
In the past, the whole city of Rome and its surroundings areas were divided between a small group of extremely rich and noble families. Most of them died out or sold their properties, but the Colonna family is an important exception to that trend. Here in Rome, they still maintain one of the richest palaces in Italy, and the decorations, paintings, and furniture in the palazzo are stunning!
The palace is located in the heart of the city, so after visiting it, we can also take a nice walk over to the most iconic fountain in town: the Trevi fountain, where you can toss in a coin and make a wish (perhaps to one day have riches like the Colonna family!).
This is not one of the "standard" sights or tours of Rome, so if you're looking for something a bit off the beaten path, this is a really wonderful choice.
