Simone is a lifelong Sardo (Sardinian), and he's been working as an active/outdoors and cycling guide for the past 20 years. Both when leading guided multi-day trips and during his own personal travels, he has spent the better part of the last 3 decades thoroughly exploring every corner of his island.
His passion is for all things Sardinia - great food, good wine, fabulous beaches, connections with local people, and exploring the hidden gems of his beautiful island - and that's exactly what he shows his guests when they tour with him.

Buongiorno, io sono Simone, The Sardinian Guy! I live in lively Cagliari, Sardinia’s capital and a quintessential Mediterranean town, with my wife Giorgina and our two kids Vittoria and Federico Costantino. They are very young and yes, I’m always late :) We love our home here in Sardinia and often have guests and friends dining in our terrace.
I've been guiding and designing trips in Sardinia and all around Italy for almost two decades, but my journey in tourism started straight out of university many years ago.
After a BA degree I did a master in tourism, then spent six months in South Africa, learning the potential of my island in outdoor and wine tourism before coming home to manage the excursion center of Forte Village Resort, a major luxury resort in Pula on the southern coast.
Currently, I’m involved in many tourism related fields, and often consult for local communities to promote our Island as a destination for active and experiential tourism. In 2023, I’ve been curating a series of outdoor guide books published by Lonely Planet. So, I think it's fair to say that I do a bit of everything!
I’ve had a lot of wonderful guests over the decades, many of whom have become friends. One thing I've found to hold true is that my guests are (almost always) as magical as my beautiful island!

A top-notch introductory tour of Cagliari. Beyond giving us a wealth of information about the history and culture of Cagliari, and Sardinia more generally, Simone shared pieces of his own story, and was equally interested in ours. The tour became a dialogue, and by the end we felt we had truly made the acquaintance of the place and one of its proudest natives.

I planned a Blue Zones focused trip with university graduate students from the United States and worked closely with Simone! The trip was wonderful, I was so happy with all the details, experiences, and opportunities shared through the trip. We are planning a 2025 trip with a larger group and two universities and I cannot wait to reunite with Simone! He's the absolute BEST!

The 2 weeks my family spent in Sardinia and Sicily would not have been as incredible as they were without SIMONE SCALAS in Sardinia, GIACOMO MAZZA in Sicily and GAETANO in Palermo. Also, a shout out to GIORGIO CALO for planning the Sicily trip and finding us Giacomo as he was already committed during our time frame. My husband and 3 grown daughters truly made priceless memories that we will reminisce on for decades. We only had Gaetano for half day tour because a daughter was flying out, but he covered so much in such a little time. He gave us a wonderful taste of Palermo- history, architecture, food- showing his knowledge but more importantly his love for his city. We spent 4 days in Sicily with Giacomo. We truly could not have seen all we saw and covered as much ground without him. He picked us up in the morning and took care of everything. My husband was not trying to drive the narrow streets dealing with traffic while I was trying to navigate, figuring out which way for him to go and where to park. The vast knowledge Giacomo has was easily imparted on my family making what we saw more meaningful. He obtained reservations for a boat tour off the coast of Taormina and for a spectacular lunch and wine tasting at one of the vineyards near Mount Etna. He gave recommendations for dinner daily and contacted the restaurants for us. He allowed us time for a coffee or gelato (always get the gelato) while he walked back to get the van. He had a very funny dry wit and was easy to understand. We loved our time in Sicily. In Sardinia where we spent almost 6 days Simone took care of everything. Again, getting in the van and not having to worry about anything. Driving us to see a good bit of the eastern side of Sardina and to experience the incredible topography of this island. The passion he has for his island was palpable. I did the consultation initially with him and through all the communication back and forth beforehand by the time I met him he felt like a friend. He helped me secure 2 boat reservations (a speedboat on Gulf of Oresei and catamaran for La Maddelena) and handled all our dinner reservations. We spent part of one day with the shepherds to start to understand the meaning of the Blue Zones. He introduced us to some interesting locals, and we had lively conversations with much laughter. We left Sardinia with such joy for the incredible experiences we had but a little sadness of leaving a family friend. Sorry for the length of this post but I truly could have gone on much longer. Can't thank these guys enough for our unforgettable vacation. We highly recommend them and the islands of Sardinia and Sicily.
